#WeAreFirstPres Stories: LifeFest
Think of a time when you felt authentic, unhindered connection with others. No phones, no emails, no agendas. This is Life Fest! One of our most treasured family weekends of the year, and now an ongoing tradition with each year sweeter than the last. From the moment we arrived, the radical affection from First Pres staff and volunteers was contagious! The team considered every last detail to ensure we had the best possible experience.
We loved emerging from our cabin each morning to see the smiles of so many dear friends! While seasoned friendships are precious, it’s just as wonderful meeting new friends too! The sessions were rich with familiar and fresh faces — each so genuine in their approach to the Gospel and First Pres Values. At one point, I spied our teenager fully engaged and taking notes! Success!
But, take away all the fun, revelry, poolside Bible trivia, swings, lake splashing, games, early morning coffee talks, late night coffee talks, and non-stop entertainment — worship with all the families was most cherished. Standing and singing in one accord, with our voices praising the wondrous God we serve — it’s the icing on the cake. It‘s simple. It’s pure. It’s necessary.
We are already counting down the days till next year! -Meredith and Francis Simms
Twenty First Pres high school students served as Work Crew for Life Fest! It was an incredible weekend to be the hands and feet of Jesus for our very own First Pres Family! Waiting tables, child care, leading worship, cooking, and even washing dishes — our students did it all with cheerful hearts! We’re thankful for and inspired by their Missional leadership! -CJ Anderson, High School Coordinator
