Children in Worship

Worship is formational for everyone present—from the youngest to the oldest (even if we think they’re not getting it) because God is present with us. We believe children can and should participate with everyone else. Because of this, all children 3rd grade and older attending the entirety of worship with their family. See more information on what’s offered for PreK4, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade children below under ‘Praise & Play’. SHINE offers a children’s bulletin to help kids follow the service and participate in worship and to help families discuss what they’ve seen and heard together. Feel free to bring any tools with you (coloring books, small toys, etc.) to help your children transition.

We value the spiritual formation of children from a young age and have a desire to come alongside families in the discipleship of their children. SHINE Children’s Ministry welcomes all children to grow in their relationship with the Lord. Coming for the first time? Registration for your child is necessary. Once completed you will receive a confirmation email.

Praise & Play

Praise and Play is an interactive time of learning and fun for all children in PreK4, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade during both worship services. Children will join their families for the first part of 9:00 Genesis Worship and 11:15 Traditional Worship and then have the option to be dismissed to Praise & Play. Children attending Praise & Play will join their age group, either PreK4 and Kindergarten OR 1st and 2nd Grade. All children 3rd grade and older will remain with their families for the entirety of the service.

Children attending Formation Hour after Genesis Praise & Play do not need to be picked up in between the two because staff and volunteers will help them transition. If your family attends the Genesis service but is not attending Formation Hour, we ask that your promptly pick up your child following the service to allow the SHINE team to allow for a smooth transition. Families attending the Traditional Worship service will need to pick up their child following Formation Hour to bring them to worship.

*FPCO welcomes all ages of children to join their families for worship services.

Nursery Care

Nursery care is offered for infants through 3 year-olds throughout the entire Sunday morning. Check-in in the Clayton Life Center lobby is available 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the worship service.

Formation Hour

Formation Hour, beginning at 10:15, is a time set aside for the discipleship of children and adults. This year we will be using the God Loves Me Series and Read-Aloud Bible Stories for nursery age children, the Biggest Story Bible Storybook for 1st-5th graders. We have a free Bible for your family and would love for you to have one. Check out the Scope and Sequence and use it as a tool to continue learning as a family! On the first Sunday of each month, children ages PreK4 and older will join the larger church body for a time of Fellowship. See more under “Fellowship Hour.”

Baptism

If your child expresses an interest in being baptized, here is a resource for discussing it with your child. For information regarding infant baptism, please contact Grace.

Communion

FPCO celebrates Communion as a church family on the first Sunday of every month. We’ve created a special lesson for families with children showing curiosity about it.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the process by which students become covenant partners in the life and ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. We offer a six-week series of classes to students in 4th - 12th grades beginning each January to equip the next generation for Christ and His kingdom. Confirmation season begins in early January with parent meetings and culminates before Easter. For more information, please email Kim Allen at kallen@fpco.org or check out our FAQ page.

Playgroups

All families of our littlest First Pres-ers are invited to our NEW weekly playgroup, every Monday beginning 10.21, from 9:15-10:30am. We’ll enjoy praise and worship led by Mrs. Rossi, and play freely within our classrooms in the Clayton Life Center. Want to attend even more Playgroups?
