Time to SHINE!
If you know the long-standing dynamic duo of SHINE, you know they are passionate about our kids and sharing the love of Jesus! Director, Kim Allen, has been integral in our Children’s Ministry since 2013 and will celebrate TEN YEARS of faithful service next week (May 13). She has loved and pointed generations to Jesus with tenacity and genuine care. She loves what she does, and it shows! We have Kim to thank for our thriving SHINE team and vision, and we’re excited for her next season as a grandma to the growing Allen Family.
Beginning on August 1, Kim will transition to a part time role on the SHINE team so that she can care for her grandbabies while also providing support to the young moms of First Pres. Kim will hand her baton to our beloved, Taylor Boutelle, to usher SHINE into a new era with a newly renovated space and so many new babies!
Taylor started with SHINE as a Heart of the City Fellow in 2018. She demonstrated leadership, maturity, responsibility, and deep love and connection with kids from the very beginning. She writes, “Kim has been the best co-laborer, prayer partner, mentor and friend, and I’m excited that our partnership will continue!” While filling each of the varied roles within SHINE under the guidance and leadership of her many mentors, it’s now Taylor’s TIME TO SHINE!
Taylor is well versed in the world of Family Discipleship and is most excited to build and deepen relationships with the families and children on First Pres. Taylor writes, “I know that this role will push me to grow as a leader, colleague, and follower of Christ – and I’m excited for it!”
SHINE is continually seeking to grow alongside our families and provide encouragement and support to help parents disciple their children. An atmosphere of love and learning together is our always-aim! Families can expect Gospel-centered teaching and deep relationships to remain a priority.
SHINE expects to be in our newly renovated space by the end of June and ready to welcome families back into a new school year! With more space and more little friends, we need more volunteers! We especially need more nursery and Praise & Play volunteers at 9am, and elementary leaders during Formation Hour at 10:15. To get involved, contact Taylor!
As a Church Family, you can pray for Taylor and Kim as they settle into their new roles. Pray for our new SHINE space – that the Lord would use it far beyond our imagination! And please pray for the continued growth and fruitfulness of our children’s ministry as we point our smallest First Pres-ers to the loving arms of Jesus!
