#WeAreFirstPres: Super Secret Silent Sneaky Service
In this hurried season, it’s important to find moments of margin to consider the goodness of God and revel in His glory. Our First Pres parents and kiddos are doing just that – spending intentional time together, discovering God’s truth and instilling practices to draw near to each other and our good, good Father.
Using their heads, hearts and hands, our families dive into SHINE’s LitKits to prompt consistent conversations and activities that equip and spur Missional Living. It’s a simple recipe:
Head – Something that deepens your understanding of the Lord.
Heart – Something that promotes the love of others.
Hands – Something that encourages Missional Living.
A favorite activity in our most recent LitKits: The Super Secret Silent Sneaky Service Tree. Aside from having the best name ever, it encourages our young First Pres-ers to look for ways to Live Missionally within their families. Every time they receive, witness, or participate in an act of service, our children add a star to their Service Trees!
Colleen Ardaman, grandmother to three in our SHINE family, loves doing LitKits with her grandkids – particularly the Service Tree. “Kids love being sneaky! This time they had permission to be. They loved hiding and did not want to be caught putting any stars on the Service Tree. It’s adorable!”
Missional activities invite families to step away from hurry and focus on intentional, Christ-centered time with one another. “In the end, the kids will have a warm, fun memory that pointed them to Jesus and the church. These LitKits help plant the seed of desire to always come back to Christ.”
