#WeAreFirstPres Stories: Sandwiches & A Savior
by Loni Hurbanis
On Christmas morning, Luke and I made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, added an orange, bag of chips, candy and a Bible verse. We drove through Downtown Orlando and gave our lunch bags to the homeless. Honestly, the first gentleman we encountered refused us, but we stayed the course. We found so many others who were grateful and received the bag. We wished them a Merry Christmas and told them Jesus loves them. We ended at Lake Eola and ran out of bags quickly. They were so thankful and asked if we could bring more for their friends. I was sad that we didn’t have enough to bless everyone. Next year we will kick it up a notch and make lots more lunch bags! We now know to add blankets and water bottles too. We already have three other families committed to helping next year, and all are welcomed to serve with us as we feed the need in our community!
