As I chatted with Mary Alice Burden during our confirmation meeting, she had such a sweet disposition when she began to talk about Jesus. She told me about how He is merciful. We talked about His gentle and humble heart from Matthew 11. She then told me that, at some point, as she read scriptures, something began to “feel different” in terms of her relationship with Jesus. I asked, “how would you describe that feeling?” She responded, “I felt like I was loved.” These moments of connection and profession of faith are such a gift to me as a shepherd of First Pres. To see the delight that comes with love in the eyes of a child holds such great power, not only in the life of the church, but to the world around us. I asked Mary Alice, “Do you think other people want to feel like like that? To feel loved?” With a sweet grin she said, “Of course! Everyone wants to feel loved.” I think Mary Alice is right. A felt need of every human being is to be known and loved and Christ meets that need perfectly. Mary Alice reminded me that the love of Christ is a treasure to be shared with the world!

Plan to join us for worship, online or in-person, on March 21 at 8:45am as our precious children confirm their faith in Jesus Christ.
