What if Jesus Didn't Die?
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
In keeping with the same train of thought as our last meditation, ‘What if Jesus hadn't been killed, what difference would that have made?”
Have you ever thought that Jesus wasn't actually our Savior until He died? Jesus performing a miracle at the wedding in Cana of Galilee was not our Savior. Jesus feeding the 5,000 was not our Savior. Jesus walking on the water was not our Savior. Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead had no effect on our salvation in any way.
Those were all miraculous things He did to be sure, but they did nothing to save us. It was His shedding His blood, God’s own blood if you will, that provided what was needed to pay the wages of our sin.
You’ll recall that the wages sin pays is always death. Jesus paid not only death’s wages, He “bought death out” and destroyed its power forever.
Our God is so worthy of our worship. Be sure to express that as you are in church today.
