Transparency in Worship
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart.” The communion of the worshiper and the Lord was a central significant factor as Old Testament sacrifices were offered.
While the sacrifices were prescribed, the joy in God’s heart came from the humble, broken heart of David, who was making the sacrifice. There was both the sin problem of the worshiper, hence the necessity of sacrifice, and the heart of the one offering the sacrifice.
This was another of the “both and’s” in Scripture. Hebrews tells us that Jesus once for all solved the sacrifice side of things, but the heart of the worshiper is still in play.
Honesty, how truthful, humble and transparent are you?
