The Golden Rule
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
The last few days, we have referred to “ask, seek, and knock.” Jesus summarizes His conversation by pointing to God the Father’s character, and His love for His children. He concludes this little section with the very familiar “Golden Rule,” “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
It may seem to be a somewhat odd conclusion, as it seems to change the topic entirely. But think about it – asking, seeking, and knocking are not so much about words, "asking, searching, and knocking," as they are about the heart expressing itself in trust, which results in blessing. We want others to trust us and bring blessing into our lives, so that is the way we should act toward them.
As you ask, seek, and knock, you’ll discover that you’ll be asking for God’s way and His blessing on your life. And you come closer and closer to finding the heart of God working in your own life.
