The Coming of the Messiah
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
From the third chapter of Genesis on, we are told hundreds of times about the coming of the Messiah, the anointed One who will redeem all people and the whole created order. We learn that Christ’s work of redemption extends beyond human beings. The whole earth and all of creation will be recreated.
The revelation of John tells us that there will be a “new heaven and a new earth.” The predictions of Jesus’ birth are so exact and specific, they alone are testimony to the deity of Christ.
True words of prophecy from God can never be wrong in even the slightest detail. In Deuteronomy we read that if the words of the prophet do not come true, we need not pay heed, that person is not a prophet from God.
We can rest assured in the Scriptures, our Messiah has come, is here now, and will come again and all of creation will be made new. We sometimes tend to think we are the center of everything in creation.
