The Care of the Lord
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Are you overwhelmed by what is happening in your life? David was. In Psalm 3, he confesses that he is being chased for his very life. In his writing he adds a little three letter word, “but” which changes the course of the psalm. He gains his perspective when he locks on to what is true. The Lord is his shield, his protection.
When my father was killed in a farming accident and my mom was now alone in her house, I asked her once if she was ever afraid at night. Her response was verse 5 of this psalm. “I lie down and sleep, I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear…” She said I read that verse a couple of days after dad died, and I’ve never been afraid since. The Lord watches over me all through the night.”
Our God is caring for us continually, even when we are totally unaware. Read Psalm 3.
