What a wonderful time serving as a church family April 9 in the Mercy Drive Community! We accomplished a tremendous amount and the community enjoyed lunch, games, face painting, and health services for their children. Thank you to our partners Commissioner Regina Hill, the City of Orlando, and the staff of the Northwest Community Center.
Nathan Shaw, a FOUR12 staff member who has spent a lot of time over the years in the community, reflected on the day:
"As a result of Saturday, now when I think about Mercy Drive I think about a community coming together to make its home better. It was amazing to see people of all ages working together to clean up trash, paint curbs, paint houses, create a community garden, create packages for seniors, develop a fully functioning library and give food to people in need. I remember seeing people of all races from Black, White, Hispanic and Haitian working side-by-side to improve a beacon in the Northwest Community Center, while improving each other along the way. Most of all, I remember the happy faces on all of the families as they were able to hold on to hope and faith for a great future ahead."
