Esther is among the exiles, and yet she is given a role of prominence in the palace of the King (Xerxes). The fact that her people are in exile illustrates the "not yet" of the Kingdom of God, but the fact that she uses her influence to protect the people of God illustrates the "now" of the Kingdom of God. She uses her influence (God-centric), not to be confuses with manipulation (self-centric), to protect God's people. When the stakes were high, she stepped up an put her life on the line on behalf of her people. (This is foreshadowing of Christ, who, when the stakes were high, stepped up and put his life on the line on behalf of his people.) In so doing, she thwarted the Satanic plan to obliterate the coming Messiah before he was ever born. This was Esther's "Esther moment", what is ours? What is yours? What is your "for such a time as this" moment? Where are you being called to stand in the gap for others? What role might you be being called to play in the unfolding plan of the redemption of God's people if only we get off the sidelines and get in the game?
