Following up from Dr. Case Thorp's sermon on May 18, 2014, many of you have asked about the book he recommended, Forgotten Foundation.
Forgotten Foundation comes from a series of lectures Rev. Russ Stevenson gave to the graduating high school seniors each spring of his 30-plus pastoral ministry. It presents the great gifts of Christianity to the world like emancipation of women, abolition of slavery, and scientific inquiry. As well, the author addresses legitimate criticisms concerning the darker periods of the Church's history (antisemitism, crusades, etc). This is a perfect book for the skeptic, as well as a book that equips disciples for conversational evangelism.CONTINUE READING

by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
The heart of worship is all about God and the story of what He has done and is doing in the world. He is both the subject and the object in worship.
“The biblical God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is not the God who sits in the heavens, but the one who acts in this world.” The source of doing worship is God Himself. He is the subject.
Unless the Holy Spirit intercedes and empowers our efforts in worship, we have humans as the originators of worship. Unless God comes to us, we have nothing acceptable to offer. He is the object of worship. It is not as if we are shouting our praises to God in heaven hoping He will hear us.
The Triune God is in our midst looking for humble and contrite people attuned to His Spirit. Worship is not centered in our action, but in God’s action through the Holy Spirit as we are indwelt by the Trinity.
