(Continuing in Psalm 23) If there is anything people need these days, it is “quiet waters.” It seems everyone is in a hurry; a hurry to finish what they are doing; to get on to the next thing they can hurry through, so they can get to the next thing; to get to the next thing…
Many of us don’t know how (or don’t want to) be led by quiet waters. We are afraid of stillness, silence and quiet. The Scriptures tell us that God speaks in a “still, small voice.” In many of our lives, I fear there is too much noise so that the voice of God is drowned out. I’m also convinced there are times when we want noise and activity for the very purpose of avoiding hearing God’s voice.
This morning, at our staff meeting, we had eight minutes of silent prayer. I could sense the people wondering how long this was going to last! Find some time today, to spend with the Shepherd beside quiet waters. There is a reason He restores your soul!
