(Continuing in Psalm 23) “I will fear no evil for you are with me.” Think of the last six letters in this sentence, “with me.” How can such simple words be so powerful? Our God is not like any other god in any other religion. Think about Muhammad, Buddha, Krishna, Bahá'u'lláh, or any other god. The leaders of those and other religions are dead.
Our God is alive and present with us in our world. As you read this, God is with you. Had we a greater awareness of God’s “you are with me,” my guess is we would be much less fearful of the evil surrounding us.
Make no mistake, evil is very present in this world. This phrase also makes very clear why the “valley of the shadow of death” never wins. Walk through these two thoughts. Even though…(difficult circumstance)…I will not fear evil…because you, God, are with me. You couldn’t be in a better place. I don’t even have to look for you, Lord. You find me.
