Have you ever noticed how often a meal was associated with Jesus’ resurrection appearances? When Jesus walked with the two strangers on the road to Emmaus they were talking as Jesus was explaining from the Old Testament all that had been fulfilled. They got to their destination and they invited Jesus to stay and eat with them. As they broke bread their eyes were opened and they recognized the risen Christ who immediately vanished from their sight.
On another occasion Jesus prepared a breakfast meal for His disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. It would seem that these meals are a harbinger of the great wedding banquet to come at the end of the age, when the Church, the bride of Christ, sits down at the wedding feast of the Lamb. We will then see Jesus in His full glory.
Meals are wonderful places for fellowship both here on earth, and in heaven above. They are definitely not fast food, eaten on the go. Maybe there is something to learn here.
