Lying Awake at Night
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Have you ever gone to bed and you can’t shut your mind off, because something is troubling you? You are trying to work through it, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear answer. As you lie there, you begin talking with the Lord. “Lord, how should I think about this? I don’t seem to be getting anywhere. Then out of the blue, something pops into your mind. You know yourself well enough to know that this new idea did not come from you. The Lord spoke to your heart and you began to have clarity and direction.
Psalm 16:7 says “I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” There have been other times when I went to sleep with no answer and woke up in the morning with the answer! The Lord was at work while I slept. When times are uncertain, do not be shaken. The Lord is at your right hand… all the time today.
