Corporate Worship - Part I
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
We live in an age of individualism. Much weight and accolades are given to the “self-made” person.
This attitude has, in some cases, carried over into the present-day interest in being “spiritual.” Many people in our culture would describe themselves as being “spiritual people” with “spiritual sensitivities.”
“I worship God in my own way” is not an uncommon phrase. The mindset is that I don’t really need to be with other people to worship. It’s just me and God (often as I fashion my own god). Even in the Christian world there is a mindset of ”Jesus and me.” He understands me and I try to stay close to Him. This perspective is a glaring, erroneous misconception of the nature and theology of Christianity.
Stay tuned for Part II...coming up this Sunday.
