Christmas was not a one-day celebration
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Christmastide is a period of twelve days between December 25 and January 6th.
Christmas was not celebrated as a single day, but as a period in which gifts were given each of the days as carols were sung celebrating the nativity of Jesus. It would do us well to slow down and reflect on the greater significance of Jesus’ birth which this period of time gives us.
But ours is not a very reflective culture. We do. We run. We experience. We move. We focus on the immediate. “Still” is not in our plan. It takes too much time.
Here’s something to think about. What would it have been like to have Jesus for a brother (He had a least four brothers and two sisters)?
