Ascension Sunday, its a thing
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
This Sunday is known as Ascension Sunday. My guess is that very few people, including Christians, will even know or acknowledge such. We are well aware of the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus, but the ascension has been kind of lost.
It is crucial on many fronts. Jesus’ physical body ascended into heaven. He carried the human body into another dimension where He is seated at the Father’s right hand. His ascension assures us, that as people who have put their trust in Him, we will also have a physical body in heaven, albeit with additional properties.
Notice the number of times Jesus ate with the disciples after the resurrection. He even made note that a “spirit body” (ghost) doesn’t eat food. While on earth, Jesus could only be in one place at a time. He needed to ascend back to His eternal home in heaven that He might send the Holy Spirit to indwell all believers.
Heaven is very real. It is physical and it exists in dimensions beyond the four in which we live. We have something to look forward to!
