A Very Solid Rock
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
This past summer my sister and I went in one of the fields on our farm and found stones that my great-great grandfather Sharp used for the foundation of the first Sharp house in Illinois, in 1851. Those stones are still around 163 years later. They made for a good foundation – solid rocks!
I remember as a little boy seeing the stone walls of the foundation where the house used to be. (There was a tree growing in the middle of the basement by then!) Had he used some inferior materials, they would have long ago disintegrated. Through the years there has been wind, tornadoes, rain, snow, 100 degree heat, and temperatures well below zero, but the rocks remain. They didn't crumble or split in the stress.
Jesus is that Rock of our salvation. You can build eternity on this Rock. Keep building today –your foundation is most secure.
