A Heart Problem
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
King David’s life was not always easy. He was chosen as king of Israel before the then current king Saul’s reign concluded.
Saul was of the tribe of Benjamin and David was from Judah. The fact that Saul was not succeeded by his own, Benjamite son, did not sit well with fellow tribesmen. David was harassed by Saul’s followers who did not accept God’s choice in David.
In Psalm 7 David writes some of his thoughts, which have a striking relevance to our day. Regarding wicked people who were seeking to do him in, he writes “O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.”
Clearly, at the core of our problem in culture and society today are hearts that are estranged from God. The psalmist clearly depicts the future of those who reject God for a way of violence and rebellion.
Pray for a renewal and revival of hearts today that the Lord would be exalted.
