A Happy Heart
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Have you ever thought how much joy comes from being physically in the presence of one you love? The close proximity to the loved one is a great source of sheer joy. The latter verses of Psalm 16:9-11 underscore this thought.
The Psalmist writes my heart (emotion), my tongue (speech), and my body (physical self) rest secure because the Lord is present and protects. Safety and security are pillars which hold up joy. Our Lord’s presence is even reflected in his name. By the fact that the Lord dwells in eternity means that his presence with us is also eternal. His commitment to us is eternal.
Following that line it becomes very apparent that even in death we are not separated from our Lord. The Lord is present in the instant journey from this world to the next. No wonder we can have a happy heart!
