UPDATE 09/07/17 11:57AM

Due to Hurricane Irma’s current forecast and severity, our Pastoral Team has prayerfully decided to cancel worship services on Sunday, September 10, and close our campus completely.

Safety is of paramount importance, including that of our staff. We want all of our First Pres family to be able to focus on preparing for the storm and assisting neighbors in doing the same.

Our campus will be completely closed Friday, September 8 from 6pm through Monday, September 11, and potentially Tuesday. This includes all activities and worship services, Fall Discipleship Kickoff, Student Ministry Reveal, Good News Breakfast, and SHINE.

Please make an effort to connect with your neighbors before, during and after the storm. This is an opportunity to serve and be the light of Jesus in our community.

We know Hurricane Irma to be a destructive storm that has already taken the lives of a number of people in the Caribbean. We will continue to pray that it will move away from inhabited areas and lives will be safe, and ask you to join us in those prayers. Please join us for worship on Sunday, September 17.

⚠️ Shelter: Earlier this week, we offered our campus to county officials in the event shelter space is needed downtown. We are not currently a shelter, and do not know if we will be a shelter. Orange County has an official shelter list.

UPDATE 09/06/17 1:21PM

We are continuing to monitor Hurricane Irma closely, and following the lead of city officials on next steps. Between now and Friday, September 8 at 12pm, we will make a decision about whether it will be safe for the First Pres campus to be open Sunday morning, September 10. We are already working with city and county officials to make our campus available in the event shelter space is needed downtown.

🙏 Be in Prayer

Please continue to be in prayer for the Caribbean and countries being hit by Hurricane Irma right now and in the coming days:

  • Pray for relatives: several members of our staff and church have family in Puerto Rico and Haiti.
  • Pray for mission partners: Mission Emanuel and our friends in the Dominican Republic, and our friends in Haiti with Rebuild Globally.
  • Pray for church plants in the Bahamas and West Palm Beach.

If you are unable to make it to our prayer time in the Reformation Chapel at 12pm today for those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, please pray with us right where you are.
