You Were Created to Live Forever
When death affects one's friends or family, they wonder what to do, what to say, and how to cope. When people contemplate their own death, they wonder what will happen, and where they will go. Despite the fact that we each face these questions, we still struggle to find answers.
Having walked alongside countless people as they faced these questions in their own last moments, or in grieving a loved one, our Senior Pastor Dr. David Swanson sought to provide answers. What do we believe about immortality, and how do we move from this life to the next? How do we respond to others in grief? How do we live more fully as someone who rejoices in the promises of Heaven?
In Everlasting Life, David Swanson invites you to explore those moments when we each come face-to-face with the realities of life and death, and look onward towards the promises we are given.
"Maybe there are some people in the world who are so faithful and so attuned to God that when they come to those moments, moments even more realistic than mine, they are not afraid. Maybe there are some people so filled by the Spirit that those moments are bathed in total peace. Perhaps, but I think that is far more the exception than the rule. I think, as finite, flawed human beings, it is quite normal and natural to fear our demise. If it did not bother us in some way, I am not sure we valued life to begin with. Of course, there are circumstances where death is a welcome relief from pain and suffering. I have seen people in those situations who embrace the possibility and actually long for it. I am not denying those realities, but simply acknowledging that for most of us, fear is a normal reaction to the prospect of death. And if it is, then the challenge is to examine those fears and not deny them." - Everlasting Life
