The Right Hand of God
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
We’ve been hearing message from the book of Hebrews the last several weeks. There is a phrase in the opening chapter that has a bearing on your life today.
“After [Jesus] had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.”
In Jesus’ day, the Sanhedrin was a court of seventy men who made judgments about various cases. A scribe would sit on either side of the judge. The scribe on the left-hand side wrote the condemnations, the convictions. The scribe on the right-hand side of the judge wrote the acquittals.
Jesus is sitting at the right-hand of His Father, writing the acquittals, as it were, for you and me. He is interceding on our behalf even as you read this. He has put us in good stead to put it mildly.
