More Thoughts on Worship: The Physical Nature of Worship
There is an interesting dilemma and question in Scripture, one which repeats continually throughout both Testaments. This same question continues today in our culture as people try to answer it in the same erroneous way they did in biblical times. In fact, it became a whole philosophy on how to look at life.
This is it in a nutshell. My life is in compartments. The bodily or physical life is one thing, while what I believe, is something entirely different - there is no connection between the two. What I do physically with my body is entirely different from what I believe or think, they are separate worlds. Nothing could be farther from true Christianity.
In worship, belief and the physical are brought together and integrated. Worship is not simply an activity to be engaged in like shopping, or playing a round of golf, it is an expression of the body.
What we do with our bodies and how we treat them is an expression of what we believe.
