The Face of God
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Psalm 11:7 “For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.”
In this verse we see a relational dimension. The opening thought declares truth regarding God’s character. The second statement is related. Righteousness and justice are kindred spirits. Righteousness always involves justice. Without justice there can be no righteousness. God is perfect in both areas.
When men and women are upright (righteous), they will see God. When humans fudge on justice or being genuinely righteous, they are alienated from close communion with God. There is distance. God will not be mocked.
To see the face of God requires great love for truthfulness in life before God. If God is distant, are you being honest with Him?
