In this three action sequence, Jesus teaches on the Sermon on the Mount, (Ask, Seek, and Knock), you’ll note that we are required to take action in each case. It is not a matter of sitting around and waiting – hoping God will act on our behalf. It is a kind of “joint venture.” This action may be what Paul refers to when he says we are to “work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.”
In seeking, we are to use our judgment, our tenacity, our wisdom, our insight, our diligence, and our determination. Think of a bird building a nest or looking for food. Think of the last time you lost a ring or your car keys. You did not stop until you found them.
God’s promise is that if we seek, we will find. Whatever you are seeking today, keep searching and experience God’s promise.
