Reading Only the Last Chapter
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Have you ever picked up a book and read the last chapter first? When that is the case, you miss the significance of the conclusion. The richness of the “what, why, when, and so what” of the story escapes you. You can be happy for the outcome, but the depth of understanding isn't quite there.
Such can be the case with Easter Sunday morning. Beginning with Palm Sunday and traveling through Holy Week will give you greater context for the Resurrection Easter morn.
Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services (6:30pm both nights) along with the noontime services each day of the week guide us to the joy and wonderment of Sunday. Having walked the journey with Jesus through the events of the week, we will have context; we have come closer to reading the whole story, not just the ending.
Actually, the end is yet to come!
