Prayer of Ascription
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Have you ever prayed a prayer where you or something you wanted was not voiced anywhere in the prayer? The entire prayer was “vertical” in its intent and content. Your sole focus was on the glory of God.
Indeed, the Lord asks us to pray for people, situations, circumstances, as well as to ask Him for things on our hearts. Having said that, there are also prayers in Scripture whose content is singularly focused on God, on His character, power, wisdom, and magnificence.
We simply ascribe to God all the things we know about Him. We affirm what is true. To worship in truth is to say plainly what is true about God.
Spend some time today ascribing to God those things that are true. Think of as many as you can.
