Notes on Worship as Dialogue
One of the realities of Christian worship is the dialogical nature of the service. Worship begins with God speaking to us.
It happened in creation,
“In the beginning God created−”
God is always the initiator when it comes to his creation and it happens in our worship as well. We don’t invite God to worship, he invites us.
Secondly, we as worshipers speak with God through prayers, singing, and in various other ways. And throughout the time of worship we listen for God’s voice as he speaks to us.
Finally, there are times when we speak to each other in worship. As we plan worship week-to-week, we are aware of the conversational nature of worship and design the services to create space for our interaction with our Father in heaven.
