Never Lose Hope
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Does it ever seem like all hope is lost? Remember the story of Lazarus? If there was ever an “all hope is lost” story, this is it.
Mary and Martha summoned Jesus to come to heal their seriously ill brother. Jesus responded by waiting two more days. Jews believed that on the fourth day after death, the spirit left the corpse. Jesus made sure He did not arrive until the fourth day. Why? One of the reasons may have been to make sure everyone would know the power of God over death.
The sisters were upset that Jesus apparently ignored the urgency of their request and they told Him so! If you are frustrated today, tell the Lord. He won’t be shocked. Sometimes delays bring surprises. Just ask Martha!
