Light of the World
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reminds us that we are to be lights in a dark world. What does that mean? Turn on a light in a room and it makes things clear. We see things as they are.
A Christian living out his or her life in the midst of a dark world, helps to clarify things. It is good for that community. And it is a witness to the world that there is light and hope.
It is good for your neighbors to see that you go to church on Sundays. People have come up to me who were encouraged when I bowed my head in prayer at a restaurant. I’m not thinking “notice me praying,” I’m just doing what I always do.
When Jesus said, “Let your light so shine that men may see your good works and praise your Father in heaven,” He was challenging us to not live our faith “under a bushel basket” but out in the open. Live your faith in the open today!
