Hurry Up and Wait
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Joseph was a man of great patience and maturity. You’ll recall his dreams as a young boy which revealed that his family would eventually bow down to him.
As we walk through his life year-after-year, nothing of the sort appeared on the horizon, quite the opposite. He wound up being cast into prison on false charges. He was forgotten by the leaders of Egypt. There was a brief glimmer of hope when two other prisoners were released. But he was forgotten again.
The Scripture records, “When two full years had passed…” Can you imagine being Joseph? God’s time was perfect, even if Joseph had wished it would hurry up. Many, many people in the Bible had to wait, often many years, for the fulfillment of a promise. But in every case, God was faithful.
If you are waiting today, God has not forgotten, it’s not quite time yet.
