Going to Church on Easter Sunday
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Several years ago I invited a friend to come to church. This was a person who did not attend church regularly and was only at mass for a wedding, funeral, or first communion. I remember being surprised when he asked what should he wear and how would he know when to stand up, sit down, or kneel? As we talked more, he was also kind of afraid of showing up and that God might do something to him. He also told me he had been taught in the old country that if he went to a protestant church, he’d go to hell!
Have you ever thought about what a person who does not normally go to church must overcome to actually show up on Easter Sunday?
Those of us who go each week, don’t have those kinds of questions. Who are you asking to Easter Sunday at DPAC this year? You can put them at ease in so many ways. They are after all not entering a church building! They are entering a building that will become a church!
Pray that the Lord will show you who to invite and then do it!
