Entering the Lenten Season
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
We begin the Lenten season this week with our Ash Wednesday service at 6:30pm, in the Sanctuary. Forty days have been set aside, among other things, to be a kind of “reckoning with God.”
In each of the instances we mentioned in the meditation this past Wednesday, we saw a kind of meeting with God sorting out the truth of the situation. In some cases there was victory like Jesus’ overcoming the temptation of the devil.
In other cases, the reckoning proved more troublesome as the Israelites spent forty years wandering in the desert for their disobedience and lack of faith.
As you move day-by-day through these next forty days leading up to Easter Sunday, may you see the health of your faith more clearly than ever before as we journey with Jesus during His last days on earth. Make these days a conscious effort to grow in faith.
