Does God Listen?
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
Psalm 5 opens with “Give ear to my words, O Lord…” We are used to talking with someone and seeing them or hearing their voice audibly.
David writes here in complete faith, asking God to hear what he is saying. I’m wondering if there aren’t times when we are praying that we are simply talking to ourselves, not really conscious that we are addressing our Creator. We are talking out of habit related to the concerns we have in our life. David’s words are so encouraging in the third verse. “In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.”
Let us this day, wait in expectation, realizing that God does listen to what we are saying. When we pray, we are connecting two different worlds, one that is seen and material, and one that is unseen and in another dimension. Because He is God, we are connected through His Son, our Savior. What did God hear from you today?
