Death Has Been Defeated
by Dr. Dan Sharp, Minister of Worship
What does Jesus’ being risen from the dead mean to you and me in practical terms? We have a physical body here on earth. It is a material flesh and blood body. It grows, matures, ages, and eventually dies. We have a soul that lives in this human shell.
Jesus’ earthly body was the same as ours─flesh and blood. When He died, His flesh and blood body also died, and His body was transformed into a heavenly body─a body with different properties than His earthly body, but with great similarities as well. While the heavenly body can eat food, walk around the earth, it also is capable of functioning in additional dimensions. Most importantly, it is not subject to death.
For those persons trusting in Christ, Jesus arising from the dead means, that upon our death on earth, our bodies take up an immortal body like Jesus’. In very practical terms, we know now that we will have a body in heaven, one made possible by Jesus’ victory over death.
Ever wonder how it all turns out? You already know!
