In the investment world, one of the key factors watched closely is the Return On Investment. Put another way, “what benefit did I derive from what I invested?” In Psalm 19, there are a series of investment opportunities listed. Each of the five challenges is paired with the ROI for the person who embraces the statement. For example, “The testimony of the Lord is sure…(the ROI) making wise the simple.” Also, “The precepts of the Lord are right,…(the ROI) rejoicing the heart.”
A revived soul, wisdom for the simple minded, a rejoicing heart, great insight, and an intimate relationship with the Lord are all the result of waling in God’s path. David goes on to say there is great reward in keeping God’s laws, one of which is not having sin dominate our lives. Obedience to God is a great and eternal ROI! Beats any investment in this world!
