Behorika Girls School Retreat: Day 2
Madagascar 2015: This post is part of a series of updates following the Madagascar mission team. Read more at fpco.org/madagascar.
We had a busy Day 2 of the Behorika Girls School retreat! The girls started their day by writing out lies they believe about God.
- God doesn’t love me.
- God doesn’t know who I am.
- God doesn’t listen to me.
- God doesn’t answer prayers.
We made those lies into a paper chain, held it in a giant circle, and broke the chain and set those lies free! Then the girls held up their Armor of God, which has truths they wrote about God.
Thanks to all of the people who helped donate backpacks and supplies for the girls, especially the 20s Ministry at First Pres! The girls were so excited and surprised.
Then, we held a Welcome Home party for the girls and staff, welcoming them into the family of believers and showing them that we’re all brothers and sisters of God. What a joyous celebration! I wish you could have heard the laughter and cheering of the girls echoing throughout the room.
We brought them in one-by-one under the banner reading “Tongaso” (meaning Welcome Home in Malagasy). After hugs and cheers from the team, Andrew and Thomas walked them to their seats. Then, they were treated to an amazing meal (something very rare for them), dancing, and a slideshow of their past 2 days.
