A Day of Worship and Celebration
Madagascar 2015: This post is part of a series of updates following the Madagascar mission team. Read more at fpco.org/madagascar.
The Madagascar team split up into 4 groups of 2 this morning to visit churches around Madagascar. Host families took us under their wing to take us to worship, which included beautiful music, inspiring sermons and communion.
After lunch with our gracious hosts, we attended a Biblical Entrepreneurship graduation and worship. Set at a beautiful church atop the hills of Antananarivo, we were warmly welcomed and thanked for our participation with B.E. in their country. After singing Malagasy hymns and reading scripture, Carol Hafer, our Director of Mission at First Pres, addressed the crowd (with the help of Miriam, one of our interpreters). She sent our love from First Presbyterian Church of Orlando and encouraged them to keep building new Kingdom businesses to glorify God. Since establishing B.E., they have had over 700 participants in this program!
Carol had the opportunity to announce the winner of the B.E. business plan competition. The winner, a woman with an existing woodworking business, developed extensive plans to expand her existing operations which will bring economic impact and also continue spreading the Good News to the people of Madagascar. She will be visiting Orlando in September to compete in the international competition!
Pastor Lala, the head of the FJKM church (a denomination of over 6,700 churches in the country) closed the evening by thanking FPCO for our continued partnership, and urged the B.E. graduates to fight the rampant corruption in the country.
Tomorrow we will be visiting the FJKM offices for prayer and devotions with the leadership of the denomination, and we also start preparing for our upcoming girl’s school retreat.
